Dimethyl ketone Applications
1. Propanone has strong dissolving power and is soluble in water. Besides being used as a solvent for paints, varnishes, and nitrocellulose spray paints, it is also used as a solvent and paint stripper in the manufacture of cellulose, cellulose acetate, and photographic film. Acetone can be used to extract various vitamins and hormones and dewax petroleum. Acetone is also an important chemical raw material used in the manufacture of acetic anhydride, methyl methacrylate, bisphenol A, mesityl oxide, methyl isobutyl ketone, hexylene glycol, chloroform, iodoform, epoxy resins, and vitamin C. It is also used as an extractant and diluent.
2. It is used in the production of important organic chemical raw materials such as organic glass monomer, bisphenol A, diacetone alcohol, hexylene glycol, methyl isobutyl ketone, methyl isobutyl carbinol, phorone, isophorone, chloroform, and iodoform. It serves as an excellent solvent in coatings, acetate fiber spinning, acetylene storage in cylinders, and dewaxing in the oil refining industry. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is a raw material for vitamin C and the anesthetic soferon, and is also used as an extractant in the production of various vitamins and hormones. In the pesticide industry, acetone is one of the raw materials for the synthesis of allethrin.
3. It is used as an analytical reagent, such as a solvent. It is also used as a chromatographic derivatization reagent and a liquid chromatography eluent.
4. It is used in the electronics industry, often as a cleaning and degreasing agent.
5. It is commonly used as a solvent for vinyl resins, acrylic resins, alkyd paints, cellulose acetate, and various adhesives. It is also widely used in the manufacture of cellulose acetate, films, membranes, and plastics, and is a raw material for the production of methyl methacrylate, methyl isobutyl ketone, bisphenol A, acetic anhydride, ketene, and furan resins.
6. It can be used as a diluent, detergent, and extractant for vitamins and hormones.
7. It is a basic organic raw material and a low-boiling-point solvent.
