Allyl chloride Description
NAME: Allyl chloride
Synonyms: 3-Chloroprop-1-ene / 1-Chloro-2-propene / 3-Chloropropene / 3-Chloropropylene / Chlorallylene
Molecular Formula: C3H5Cl
Chemical Structure: CH₂=CH–CH₂Cl, , consisting of a three-carbon chain with a double bond between the first two carbons and a chlorine atom attached to the third carbon. This structure means it has a vinyl group (CH₂=CH–) attached to a chloromethyl group (–CH₂Cl) via a methylene bridge, making it an alkyl halide.
Molecular Weight: 76.52
CAS NO.: 107-05-1
EINECS: 203-457-6
Density: 0.9±0.1 g/cm3
Boiling point: 41.6±9.0 °C at 760 mmHg
Melting point: -136 °C
Flashing point: -28.9±0.0 °C
Appearance: Colorless transparent liquid with unpleasant pungent odor.
Solubility: Insoluble in water, can be miscible in ethanol, ether, chloroform, petroleum ether and other organic solvents.
Stability: Stable, but reacts violently with a variety of materials. Highly flammable. Incompatible with strong oxidizing agents, peroxides, acids, chlorides of iron, aluminum and amines.
Properties: Colorless, flammable liquid with a corrosive and irritating odor. It can undergo oxidation, addition, polymerization, hydrolysis, amination, cyanation, esterification and other reactions.
Production methods: Allyl chloride can be synthesized by reacting allyl alcohol with HCl, or by treating allyl formate with HCl in the presence of a catalyst (ZnCl2).
Storage: Keep it in a cool, well-ventilated space. Stay clear of flames and heat. The temperature should stay below 29℃. Make sure the package is sealed and isn’t exposed to air. Store it away from oxidizers, acids, and bases—don’t mix them. Avoid keeping large amounts or storing it for too long. Use explosion-proof lights and have good ventilation. Don’t use tools that might spark. Make sure the storage area has emergency leak equipment and materials to contain spills.
Safety Protection: The vapor is highly irritating, but has a weak anesthetic effect. It strongly irritates the eyes, nose and throat. It has little damage to the liver, but great damage to the lungs and kidneys. It can be absorbed through the skin. If it adheres to clothing, it must be changed immediately. Operators should wear protective equipment.
About Us: With over many years as a certified Allyl chloride manufacturer, we combine innovation with stringent production standards to deliver high-performance product.
