Sodium Hydroxide Description

NAME: Sodium hydroxide (NaOH)

Synonyms: Caustic soda  / Sodium hydrate / Ascarite / Soda lye / White caustic

Molecular Formula: NaOH

Molecular Weight: 40

CAS NO.: 1310-73-2

Density: 2.13

Boiling point: 1390 ºC

Melting point: 318 ºC

flashing point: 176-178°C

Appearance: Pure product is colorless transparent crystal.

Solubility: Soluble in water, ethanol, glycerol, insoluble in acetone.

Properties: Sodium hydroxide is a white solid that is easily soluble in water. Its aqueous solution has an astringent and greasy taste. It dissolves in ethanol and glycerol, but is insoluble in acetone and ether. It is extremely corrosive and has a corrosive effect on fibers, skin, glass, ceramics, etc. When reacting with metal aluminum and zinc, non-metal boron and silicon, it releases hydrogen; it undergoes disproportionation reaction with halogens such as chlorine, bromine, and iodine; it neutralizes acids to produce salt and water.

Storage: Maintain product integrity by storing in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated environment, away from ignition sources and excessive heat (reservoir temperature not exceeding 35°C, relative humidity below 80%). Ensure packaging remains sealed and protected from moisture. Segregate from flammable materials, oxidizers, and acids. Implement spill containment measures within the storage area.

About Us: With over many years as a certified Sodium hydroxide manufacturer, we combine innovation with stringent production standards to deliver high-performance product.
