Chlorine

Chlorine CAS 7782-50-5

Sinochem is a major Chlorine supplier. Meanwhile, our firm staffs a group of experts devoted to your development of China Chlorine.

A noxious, greenish-yellow gas characterized by its intensely irritating and suffocating odor. Exposure via inhalation poses significant toxicity risks. While sparingly soluble in water, it can be readily converted to a liquid state through the application of moderate pressure at ambient temperatures.

  • Widely used in water treatment to kill bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens.
  • Key raw material for PVC, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, and other chemicals.
  • Can be stored as liquefied gas under pressure for extended periods.

Chlorine Description

NAME: Chlorine (Cl2)

Synonyms: Dichlorine / molecular chlorine / bertholite

Molecular Formula: Cl2

Molecular Weight: 70.90

CAS NO.: 7782-50-5

Density: 1.468(0℃)

Boiling point: −34 °C(lit.)

Melting point: −101 °C(lit.)

Appearance: Clear yellow-green ordor, liquid

Solubility: slightly soluble in H2O

Properties: Liquid Cl2 is a yellow-green transparent liquid with strong irritation and corrosiveness. It can dissolve in water, has a combustion-supporting effect, and will undergo a combustible reaction under sunlight. It can react with most elements or compounds and has strong oxidizing properties.

Production method: The steps of producing liquid Cl2 include dehydrogenating an electrolytic salt water solution, and then further dehydrogenating and separating to obtain chlorine gas. The Cl2 gas is then cooled and condensed to form liquid bertholite.

Storage: Keep container in a well-ventilated place to avoid release to the environment.

Safety Protection: Highly toxic substance, with strong irritating odor and corrosiveness, highly toxic, especially irritating to respiratory organs. Inhalation may cause nausea, vomiting, upper abdominal pain, diarrhea, etc. It can help combustion.

About Us: With over many years as a certified Chlorine manufacturer, we combine innovation with stringent production standards to deliver high-performance product.

Dichlorine Applications

1. Cl2 is widely used for disinfection. Common disinfectants such as Cl2 gas, bleaching powder, chloramines, etc. contain Cl2. They are used to disinfect water, swimming pools and other fields.

2. Cl2 compounds are used to prepare other chemicals, such as sodium chloride (table salt), chlorinated hydrocarbons (used to make plastics), etc.

3. Cl2 is also used in some industrial reactions, such as aluminum bertholite is used as a catalyst, it is used to make chlorinated rubber, etc.

We offer competitive Chlorine price, and exclusive discounts for large quantities, helping you effectively reduce procurement costs.
