Propylene oxide

Propylene oxide CAS 75-56-9

Sinochem is a major Propylene Oxide supplier. Meanwhile, our firm staffs a group of experts devoted to your development of China Propylene Oxide.

1,2-Epoxypropane stands as a pivotal organic feedstock, presenting as a volatile, flammable, and chiral ether. Industrial-grade Epoxypropane typically manifests as a racemic blend of its two enantiomeric forms.

  • Versatile Chemical Intermediate-Widely used in the production of polyurethanes, propylene glycol, and other industrial chemicals.
  • High Reactivity- The strained three-membered epoxide ring makes it highly reactive, enabling diverse chemical transformations.
  • High Purity Grades Available-Suitable for pharmaceutical and fine chemical synthesis.

Appearance: Colorless liquid has an ether-like odor.

Solubility: Soluble in water, miscible soluble in methanol, ether, acetone, benzene, carbon tetrachloride and other organic solvents.

Properties: A colorless, low-boiling, flammable liquid with an ether-like odor. Its industrial product is a racemic mixture of two optical isomers. It is partially miscible with water, with a solubility of 40.5% (by weight) in water; the solubility of water in propylene oxide is 12.8% (by weight). It is also miscible with ethanol and ether, and can form binary azeotropes with dichloromethane, pentane, pentene, cyclopentane, cyclopentene, etc.

Safety Protection: Propylene oxide is a toxic substance that irritates the skin and mucous membranes. It can damage the cornea and conjunctiva of the eye, cause pain in the respiratory organs, swelling and burns of the skin, and even cause tissue necrosis. Inhalation of its vapor can affect the central nervous system, presenting symptoms such as depression and vomiting, diarrhea, coma, and collapse. Operators should wear gas masks, goggles, and protective gloves.

Storage: Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. The warehouse temperature should not exceed 29℃. Keep away from fire and heat sources. Keep the container sealed. Store separately from oxidants, acids and alkalis, and do not store them together. Use explosion-proof lighting and ventilation facilities. It is forbidden to use mechanical equipment and tools that are prone to sparks. The storage area should be equipped with leakage emergency treatment equipment and appropriate containment materials.

About Us: With over many years as a certified Propylene Oxide manufacturer, we combine innovation with stringent production standards to deliver high-performance product.
