Formaldehyde

Formaldehyde CAS 50-00-0

Sinochem is a major Formaldehyde supplier. Meanwhile, our firm staffs a group of experts devoted to your development of China Formaldehyde.

Formaldehyde (CH2O) is a volatile organic compound existing as a colorless, pungent gas or liquid. While naturally occurring in trace, innocuous quantities within the human body, it is primarily recognized for its irritant and flammable properties.

  • High Reactivity – Widely used in chemical synthesis and industrial applications.
  • Effective Disinfectant – Strong antimicrobial properties for sterilization and preservation.
  • Preservation & Embalming – Commonly used in medical and biological specimen preservation.

Formaldehyde Description

Name: Formaldehyde

Synonyms: Formalin / Formic aldehyde / Methylene oxide / Formol / Methanal /Oxomethane

Molecular Formula: CH2O

Molecular Weight: 30.026

CAS NO.: 50-00-0

Density: 1.083 g/cm3

Boiling point: 97 ºC

Melting point: -15 ºC

Flashing point: 60 ºC

Appearance: A colorless liquid with a strong pungent and choking odor.

Water Solubility: Soluble, > 100 g/100 ml (20 °C)

Properties: It is a colorless, transparent liquid that can be mixed with water, ethanol, and acetone. It can be gradually oxidized to formic acid, which is a strong reducing agent, but it is also prone to explosion. In the air, the vapor will form a mixture that can cause an explosion. At the same time, it may also cause combustion and explosion when it encounters open flames and high heat energy. To prevent this from happening, 10% to 12% methanol is usually added as an inhibitor. If not, the liquid will polymerize.

Storage: Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat sources. Avoid direct sunlight. Keep the container sealed. Store away from oxidants, acids and alkalis.

Safety Protection: In case of accidental contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. Wear appropriate protective clothing, gloves and goggles or mask. In case of accident or if you feel unwell, seek medical attention immediately.

About Us: With over many years as a certified Formaldehyde manufacturer, we combine innovation with stringent production standards to deliver high-performance product.

Formalin Applications

1.It is a strong reducing agent, has a bactericidal effect, can be used as a disinfectant for people, and can be used as a preservative for animals, fumigation and so on

2.Used as organic chemical raw materials, used in medicine, synthetic fibers, synthetic resins, plastic preservatives, reducing agents, etc

3.It is used for chromatographic analysis, sterilization disinfectant, preparation of phenolic resin and immersion of biological specimens

4.It is mainly used for the preparation of phenolic aldehyde, urea aldehyde, melamine and polyformaldehyde resin, and also for the preparation of MDI, pentaerythritol, Ulotropine and butanediol

5.Aqueous solution is antiseptic preservative; Fumigant. It has a powerful bactericidal effect, effective against spores and viruses. 2% formalin can be used for disinfection of instruments and gloves (soak for 1 ~ 2h), indoor with 1 ~ 2ml/m3 formalin plus a small amount of potassium permanganate crystals can produce formaldehyde vapor disinfection.

We offer competitive Formaldehyde price, and exclusive discounts for large quantities, helping you effectively reduce procurement costs.
