Appearance: Colorless to reddish – brown oily liquid with almond odor.

Properties: It has a special smell of benzaldehyde. It is flammable and corrosive. It can irritate mucous membranes, induce tears, and cause headaches. It decomposes under high heat and releases toxic gases. It can form explosive mixtures if it comes into contact with air. It is soluble in many solvents, such as alcohol, ether, hot water, acetone, benzene and chloroform, and can be dissolved in 11 parts of water, but it is easy to evaporate. It tends to turn yellow-brown and form a resin-like state when exposed to air and light.
Storage: Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. The warehouse temperature should not exceed 37℃. Keep away from fire and heat sources. Store away from light, and the packaging should be sealed to avoid contact with air. It should be stored separately from oxidants, alkalis, and edible chemicals, and never mixed. Do not store in large quantities or for a long time. Use explosion-proof lighting and ventilation facilities. It is prohibited to use mechanical equipment and tools that are prone to sparks. The storage area should be equipped with leakage emergency treatment equipment and appropriate containment materials.

Furfural Applications
