Premium Rutile Titanium oxide CAS 1317-80-2
Rutile Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) is widely regarded as the premier white pigment in the global chemical industry. Known for its exceptional tetragonal crystal structure, our Rutile TiO2 offers the highest refractive index of all white pigments, ensuring unparalleled brightness and opacity for diverse industrial applications.
As a leading Rutile Titanium Oxide supplier, we provide a product that is engineered for durability. Whether you are formulating high-end architectural coatings or weather-resistant plastics, our Rutile grade (such as the R 1930) delivers consistent particle size distribution and superior surface treatment to meet the most stringent international standards.
- Maximum Hiding Power: With a refractive index of approximately 2.73, Rutile TiO2 provides superior light scattering, allowing for thinner coating layers while maintaining full coverage.
- Outstanding Weatherability: The Rutile crystal lattice is inherently more stable than Anatase. It offers exceptional resistance to UV degradation, preventing “chalking” and color fading in outdoor environments.
- High Tinting Strength: Our manufacturing process ensures optimal particle size, resulting in a pigment that requires less volume to achieve desired whiteness and brightness.
- Excellent Dispersion: Specially treated surfaces allow for rapid and uniform dispersion in both aqueous and solvent-based systems, reducing processing time and energy costs.
-
Chemical Stability: It remains inert and non-toxic, making it safe for use in sensitive applications like food packaging and cosmetics.
Rutile Titanium(IV) oxide Description
NAME: Rutile Titanium(IV) oxide (TiO2)
Molecular Formula: TiO2
Molecular Weight: 79.87
CAS NO.: 1317-80-2
Density: 4.17
Boiling point: 2500ºC
Melting point: 1830-3000ºC
Flashing point: 2500-3000ºC
Appearance: Light blue crystalline TiO2 Rutile powder
Solubility: Insoluble
Two crystal forms of titanium dioxide: Anatase titanium dioxide and Rutile titanium dioxide
Properties: It is chemically stable and is a slightly acidic amphoteric oxide. At room temperature, it is virtually unreactive with other elements and compounds, and is insensitive to oxygen, ammonia, nitrogen, hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide, and sulfur dioxide. It is insoluble in water, fat, dilute acids, inorganic acids, and alkalis, and is soluble only in hydrofluoric acid. However, under the influence of light, titanium dioxide undergoes continuous redox reactions, demonstrating photochemical activity.
Production method: Soleplate Process and Chloride Process.
Package: Standard delivery in 25kg multi-layer paper-plastic composite bags. Bulk packaging (500kg/1000kg) is available upon request.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated warehouse. Avoid direct contact with moisture to prevent caking.
Safety protection: Although non-toxic, we recommend wearing dust masks and safety goggles during handling to avoid inhalation of fine particles. Ensure the work area is equipped with adequate ventilation.
About Us: With over many years as a certified Rutile Titanium oxide manufacturer, we combine innovation with stringent production standards to deliver high-performance product.

Rutile Titanium oxide Applications
- High-End Coatings and Paints: In the coatings industry, Rutile TiO2 is indispensable for architectural, industrial, and automotive paints. It provides a protective barrier against harsh weather conditions and chemical exposure while maintaining a high-gloss finish.
- Plastics and Polymer Industry: Our TiO2 is compatible with PVC, PE, PS, and ABS resins. It not only provides whiteness but also acts as a UV stabilizer, extending the lifespan of plastic products like window frames, pipes, and automotive components.
- Printing Inks: For packaging and decorative printing, the high opacity of our Rutile powder ensures vibrant colors and crisp details even on dark substrates.
- Paper and Laminates: Used as a filler and coating agent, it improves the opacity and brightness of high-quality paper, making it ideal for thin paper grades where “show-through” must be minimized.
- Specialized Ceramics and Glass: Due to its high thermal stability and wear resistance, it is utilized in the production of glazes and specialized glass fibers.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: What is the difference between Rutile and Anatase TiO2?
A: Rutile has a more compact crystal structure, which provides a higher refractive index and better UV resistance. While Anatase is often used in paper and fibers, Rutile is the preferred choice for outdoor paints and plastics.
Q: Can I get a customized surface treatment?
A: Yes. Depending on your final application (water-borne vs. solvent-borne), we can offer TiO2 with Alumina, Silica, or Organic surface treatments to optimize compatibility.
Q: Is your Rutile TiO2 compliant with REACH/RoHS?
A: Absolutely. As a certified Rutile Titanium Oxide factory, all our products undergo rigorous testing to ensure compliance with global environmental and safety regulations.
