High Purity Tert-Butanol Alcohol CAS 75-65-0
Sinochem is a major Tert-Butanol Alcohol supplier. Meanwhile, our firm staffs a group of experts devoted to your development of China Tert-Butanol Alcohol.
Tert-Butanol (TBA), also known as 2-Methyl-2-propanol, is the simplest tertiary alcohol with the chemical formula C4H10O. It appears as a colorless, transparent liquid or volatile crystalline solid depending on the ambient temperature (melting point 23–26°C). Characterized by a distinct camphor-like odor, TBA is highly hygroscopic and miscible with water and most organic solvents, including ethanol and ether. As a versatile chemical intermediate, it plays a critical role in the synthesis of organic peroxides, plastics, and pharmaceutical formulations.
- High Purity – Available in high-grade purity for industrial and laboratory applications.
- Versatile Solvent – Effective solvent for resins, paints, and pharmaceuticals due to its polar and non-polar compatibility.
- Chemical Intermediate – Valuable intermediate in organic synthesis

Appearance: Colorless, non-corrosive liquid.
Solubility: Soluble in water, alcohol, ether.
Properties: Tertiary butanol is volatile and hygroscopic. It is soluble in ethanol, ether, water, etc. to form azeotropic mixtures. It is soluble in most organic solvents, such as alcohols, esters, ketones, aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons. Tertiary butanol has a camphor-like odor. When there is a small amount of water, it is a colorless volatile liquid, colorless crystals, and flammable. Its vapor can form an explosive mixture with air. It can cause combustion and explosion when exposed to open flames and high heat. It can react violently with oxidants. Adding potassium carbonate to the aqueous solution can cause it to separate.
Packaging: 155kg Steel Drums, IBC Tanks, or ISO Tanks.
Storage: Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat sources. The storage temperature should not exceed 37°C. Keep the container sealed. Store separately from oxidants and acids and do not store them together. Use explosion-proof lighting and ventilation facilities. It is prohibited to use mechanical equipment and tools that are prone to sparks. The storage area should be equipped with leakage emergency treatment equipment and appropriate containment materials.
Safety Protection: Compared with other alcohols, it has higher toxicity and narcotic properties. Inhalation is harmful to the body. It is irritating to the eyes, skin, mucous membranes and respiratory tract.
About Us: With over many years as a certified Tert-Butanol Alcohol manufacturer, we combine innovation with stringent production standards to deliver high-performance product.

t-Butyl alcohol Applications
-
Pharmaceutical & Fragrance Synthesis: Served as an essential solvent and raw material for the preparation of drugs, spices, and synthetic musk.
-
Pesticide Industry: Sodium tert-butanol, derived from TBA, is a key reagent in the pyrethroid cyclization reaction, vital for modern crop protection.
-
Industrial Solvent: Often used as a superior substitute for n-butanol in paints, lacquers, and pharmaceutical coatings to improve resin solubility.
-
Fuel Additives: Functions as a high-octane blending component and an anti-knock agent for internal combustion engines; also used to prevent carburetor icing.
-
Chemical Intermediates: A precursor for the production of tert-butyl chloride, tert-butyl phenol, and various organic peroxides used as polymerization initiators.
