Trichloromethane CAS 67-66-3
Sinochem is a major Trichloromethane supplier. Meanwhile, our firm staffs a group of experts devoted to your development of China Trichloromethane.
Chloroform is a colorless, volatile liquid with a sweet odor that is commonly used as a solvent and a precursor in the production of refrigerants and other chemicals. Chloroform was once widely used as an anesthetic, but is no longer used for anesthesia due to its toxicity.
- Effective Solvent – Strong solvent for fats, resins, rubber, and alkaloids.
- Chemical Intermediate – Useful in the production of refrigerants and pharmaceuticals.
- Volatile Nature – Evaporates quickly, making it useful in lab and industrial applications.

Methyl trichloride Applications
Trichloromethane, also known as chloroform, is an organic compound widely used in many fields. Its main application areas include industry, medicine and laboratory fields.
1. In industry, chloroform is widely used as a solvent, and its excellent solubility and volatility make it an ideal choice for many chemical reactions and production processes. It plays a key role in the production of products such as coatings, glues, and detergents, helping to synthesize and stabilize the quality and performance of these products. It is also an organic synthetic raw material in industry, mainly used in the production of Freon, dyes and drugs. A small amount of ethanol is usually added to industrial products so that the generated phosgene reacts with ethanol to produce non-toxic diethyl carbonate.
2. In medicine, it is often used as an anesthetic. However, due to its potential side effects on the heart and liver, it has been replaced by safer anesthetic drugs. Despite this, chloroform is still used as a chemical reagent in some laboratories for specific experiments and analyses. It can be used as a solvent and extractant for antibiotics, spices, oils, resins and rubber. It can be mixed with carbon tetrachloride to make a non-solidifying fireproof liquid. It can also be used as a propellant for aerosols, a fumigant for grains, and a standard solution for temperature calibration.
3. In addition, chloroform also plays an important role in laboratory scientific research, in organic synthesis, solvent extraction and analytical testing.
